Connecting to a Talkgroup on the TGIF DMR Network

Step 1: Obtain a DMR ID

Before you can start using the TGIF DMR network, you need to obtain a DMR ID. This unique identifier is required for all DMR users. You can register for a DMR ID at RadioID.net.

Step 2: Choose Your Equipment

To connect to the TGIF DMR network, you'll need the following equipment:

• DMR Radio: A digital mobile radio that supports DMR Tier II.
• Programming Cable: To connect your radio to a computer for programming.
• Computer: To run the programming software and configure your radio.
• Internet Connection: Required for accessing the TGIF network via a hotspot or repeater.
• Hotspot (Optional): A device that connects your DMR radio to the internet if you don't have access to a local DMR repeater.

• Write the configuration to your radio.

Step 4: Connect to the TGIF Network

With your radio programmed, you're ready to connect to the TGIF network. Here are some tips to get you started:

• Turn on your radio and select the channel for the TGIF talkgroup you want to join.
• If you're using a hotspot, ensure it is connected to the internet and configured to use the TGIF network.
• Key up your radio and announce your call sign and location to join the conversation.
• Listen to the ongoing conversation and follow proper DMR operating practices.
• Join the TGIF Network Facebook group or online forums to connect with other users and stay informed about network updates.

Connecting to Talkgroup 86915

To connect to the specific talkgroup 86915 on the TGIF network, follow these additional steps:

• In the programming software, add a new channel for talkgroup 666.
• Set the talkgroup ID to 86915.
• Configure the frequency, color code, and time slot settings as required for your local DMR repeater or hotspot.
• Write the configuration to your radio.
• Select the channel for talkgroup 86915 on your radio.
• Key up your radio and announce your call sign and location to join the conversation on talkgroup 86915.
